Kids Caring for the Environment.
Spring is a great time to get outdoors and gardening is a great activity for kids and adults alike. This month we are focusing on our Environment and on ways that we can make a positive impact, so for this month’s activity we have asked our students to plant a tree or grow a plant. So here is how can encourage Kids Caring for the environment.
With more and more time spent indoors, especially screen time, it is becoming important to find time to ground ourselves and get some fresh air. Getting stuck into the garden is a great way to do that. Whether it’s in your back yard, a communal garden or even just a potted plant in the courtyard, caring for a plant can give children a great sense of achievement – especially if that plant is edible! Making a salad with the lettuce your child has grown themselves is sure to taste even better.
Planting seeds and watching them grow helps children learn about the growth process and to learn patience while their little seedling sprouts.
Weeding and watering a garden encourages physical activity and responsibility and it’s also a great bonding experience for all involved.
Did you know? The Microbes in soil have been found to be a natural antidepressant? Plus gardening is a great stress buster.
Other ways we can care for the environment:
Using cloth shopping bags.
Picking up our rubbish.
Recycling at home.
Engage children with the nature by taking them for excursion in local nature parks and wild life sanctuaries. Bring them close to the nature.
