The 2011 China tour was truly a success!
Along the exciting tour the group had the chance to visit the incredible three gorges dam, meet Grandmaster You Xuande in South Wudang, who has an acclaimed reputation in Taoism and Wudang Kung Fu, train with two students of his and visit the local monasteries, whilst also showcasing their Kung fu skills for them.
From Wudang the group travelled to the Shaolin Temple, were they had the chance to train with a Shaolin monk in one of their training rooms on the temple grounds. Between showcasing Kung Fu in front of hundreds of bystanders on the shaolin grounds, enjoying the pancakes from the locals and going crazy buying authentic weapons from the local weapon shop, the group also managed to meet the acclaimed Abbot of the Shaolin Temple Shi Yongxin.
After leaving the temple, swearing to never climb another mountain again, HangZhou came as a relief as they could kick back, enjoy the markets, taste the famous longjing green tea, marvel at the world class night show and take in the beautiful natural scenery. After relaxing in Hangzhou for a few days the group headed to Hong Kong to shop, get into some local entertainment and cuisine. It was in Hong Kong where the World Choy Lee Fut Tournament took place and a hole lot of trick-a-treating.
Overall the trip was a huge success and a big thank-you to the 19 students that came on the trip and took this great opportunity to further not only their Kung Fu knowledge but also Chinese cultural knowledge.

World Choy Lay Fut Tournament Success
A big congratulations to Dai See Hing Tarm Michielsen and Blake Griffin for their wins at the World Choy Lee Fut Tournament. They both put up an extremely great fight and bought home winning trophies to show it. And a big congratulations again to Dai Si Hing Tarm for winning the ‘Best Fighter of the Night’ award. For anyone who is interested in viewing the fights you can find them on our Facebook page ‘Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy’ wall. Hong Kong Seminar with Sifu Vince
Thankyou to all the support from students and families at the Sparring Extravaganza early this year to help sponsor See Gong Vince Lacey (Sifu’s Sifu) to Hong Kong.
The group that flew to Hong Kong and the China Tour had the rare opportunity to spend a morning with Sifu Vince Lacey learning inside combos and tips on improving their Kung Fu.
It was also a special chance for our Sifu to meet again with his Sifu after ten years..
